Qualify for status with Loyalty Points
Loyalty Points are the new way to reach AAdvantage® status. You’ll qualify for status based on the Loyalty Points posted to your account for the 12-month period starting on March 1 of each year.
You’ll earn Loyalty Points as you earn eligible AAdvantage® miles whenever you fly, use an AAdvantage® credit card for purchases, or earn eligible miles with AAdvantage® partners. One eligible AAdvantage® mile equals one Loyalty Point.

1Upgrades are valid on American marketed and operated flights, within and between the U.S. (including Hawaii) and between the U.S. and Canada, Mexico, the Bahamas, the Caribbean, Bermuda and Central America (based on availability). Upgrades are valid from the Main Cabin to the next class of service.
*Your travel companion can be booked in the same reservation or in a different reservation when traveling on American Airlines marketed and operated flights. If your companion is booked in a different reservation, call American Airlines Reservations to link the two reservations.

Loyalty Point Rewards
You’ll receive the option to choose from a variety of rewards that enhance your experience such as a systemwide upgrade, an award discount, Admirals Club® One Day Passes and more.
Track your progress toward reaching these reward levels in your account. Once you reach these goals, your reward choices will be available in your AAdvantage® account.

Priority check-in and security screening lanes
Want a fast check-in? Check in online or with our self-service check-in machines when traveling with us. In addition, we also offer curbside check-in and priority check-in areas:
- AAdvantage Platinum® members and above may check in at any First Class lane regardless of the class of service in which you are traveling on American Airlines
- AAdvantage Gold® members may check in at any Business Class lane. In airports without Business Class check-in, First Class check-in is available for you
After checking-in for your flight, we invite you to use our exclusive security screening lanes at select airports.
Priority boarding
You are among the first invited to board the plane as an AAdvantage® status member. After our ConciergeKey® members, uniformed U.S. military and First Class customers, you are welcomed to board as follows:
- Group 1 – AAdvantage Executive Platinum®
- Group 2 – AAdvantage Platinum Pro® and oneworld® Emerald
- Group 3 – AAdvantage Platinum® and oneworld® Sapphire
- Group 4 – AAdvantage Gold® and oneworld® Ruby
If you arrive late to the gate, you may bypass the General Boarding lines and enjoy the convenience of boarding anytime via the dedicated Priority boarding lane. Just show your boarding pass, and you'll be on your way!
Free checked bags
Free checked bags apply, based on the member's status, for members and guests traveling on the same reservation (excluding group reservations) on itineraries marketed and operated by American Airlines. Free checked bags may not apply to codeshare flights not operated by American. Visit the website of the airline operating your flight for details. If the standard cabin allowance is higher than the number of free checked bags for your status, then the standard cabin allowance applies.
The number of free checked bags depends on your highest status level at time of ticketing or check-in. If your status level is:
- Higher at ticketing than at check-in, show your ticket receipt to the airport agent
- Lower at ticketing than at check-in, current benefits will automatically apply
Oversize or overweight bags may incur additional fees.
Priority bag delivery
AAdvantage Executive Platinum®, AAdvantage Platinum Pro® and AAdvantage Platinum® members' checked bags will be tagged as priority and be among the first bags delivered to the baggage claim area on American flights. This benefit also applies to guests traveling on the same reservation (excluding group reservations).
Same-day standby and flight changes
Status members receive a higher priority when standing by for a different flight on the same day of travel when flying to / from:
- United States and the U.S. Virgin Islands
- Puerto Rico
- Canada*
- Caribbean (select destinations)*
- AAdvantage Executive Platinum® and AAdvantage Platinum Pro® members receive complimentary same day flight changes on American.

Preferred seats
As an AAdvantage® status member, you have complimentary access to Preferred seats (if available) which have standard legroom and are more favorably located throughout the Main Cabin. We set aside a number of these seats on every flight for our premium customers and anyone traveling on full-fare Economy Class tickets. This benefit also applies to up to 8 passengers traveling with you in the same reservation.
Main Cabin Extra
Main Cabin Extra offers up to six inches of additional legroom to stretch out and relax. Located towards the front of the cabin, Main Cabin Extra seating (if available) allows easier boarding and deplaning.

Guaranteed availability in the Main Cabin
AAdvantage Executive Platinum® members and 1 companion can book a full-fare ticket in the Main Cabin on sold-out American Airlines flights when you make your reservation at least 24 hours in advance (except on codeshare flights and flights to/from Venezuela).
Waitlist priority for First or Business Class
If we're unable to confirm a First or Business Class seat on your preferred American Airlines flight, AAdvantage Executive Platinum® members will be placed on the top of the waitlist for the next available seat. Please call at least 24 hours prior to flight departure for this service. If you aren't confirmed before arriving at the airport, you can ask an agent to put you on the standby list.
Complimentary food and drinks in the Main Cabin
AAdvantage Executive Platinum® members traveling in the Main Cabin on board American Airlines can enjoy a complimentary beverage from our standard alcoholic beverage selections as well as 1 snack. The snack includes any food item on our menu.*
*On flights with full drink service. The number of drinks served may be limited.
